I saw the Classique Souscription before the watch was announced as the overall winner of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Gen've (GPHG),the "horological Oscars' so to speak. Given the sheer number of amazing creations we've seen in the past year, I was a little surprised that the Souscription won the Aiguille d'Or. As you would expect, timing things down to the minute is not possible here, you can only tell the time down to the nearest five-minute interval on the Classique Souscription. The new cases are very angular, doing away entirely with the sweeping good looks of the previous models. The sizing is better for most people now, though, with specs of 42mm x 13.79mm, the new Planet Oceans will be much more approachable for average buyers than the humongous beasts they were before. The dial's front is made with a half-hunter lid, which, unlike a full hunter lid, allows you to read the time through the sapphire crystal windows. Flipping up the Time Jumper's half-hunter lid allows a clearer look at the new Calibre 10.01 underneath.
